Luxury Edition

Before you read this entry, I must warn you. I could and will never be able to buy a single thing featured here. I sorely envy you if you can. After all, this is Sweet Dreams...and these products are just that, dreams.

With that said, here are my luxury picks for fall.

($650, net-a-porter.com)

I am in love with this Rachel Roy jersey dress. It's supposed to be green, even though the pictures look darker to me, but I would love this in any color. It's the epitome of elegance, yet sexy enough to show off your good bits- and forget the bad. You could throw it under a suit jacket with pumps for the office, and then ditch the jacket and add a pair of booties for an after-work date (mmmm...). Seriously, though, if by some act of god this dress appeared in my hands, I would never let it out of my sight. Never. After all, it costs enough to feed my family for 2 weeks, anyway.

($3,771, net-a-porter.com)

No, that's not a typo. This woo/mohair blend jacket by Missoni Park really does cost $3,771. I'm relishing this price. Because this coat deserves it. I usually don't adore patterned coats in general, plus this one is arrowhead and has weird colors.

But I don't care. Something about this jacket screams "Sophistication! Flattering! Women will drool over this coat, and men will drool over you in this coat!"

Enough said about that.

I actually was not too thrilled by net.a.porter.com's selection of fall boots. There were some lovely ones, but nothing truly unique enough to justify the price.

Except for these:

($795, net.a.porter.com)

These Emilio Pucci ankle boots are simply precious. In terms of a shoe, the scallop edge is probably impractical. I would have nowhere to wear these. Really; I can't think of a single outfit where these would truly fit.

But that's OK. Because these boots are art. They're aesthetic perfection. Look at the line of the small, chunky heel, flowing into the perfect narrow toe- just sweet enough to fall short of aggressive. And those gold laces add a much needed feminine contrast to the vertical lines streaming down from the scalloped edge.

In my next posting, I will move on from net.a.porter.com and try tackling some more luxury finds! (Don't worry, I'll return to actually useful bargain-finding soon. I promise. Just let me have my fun.)

Fall finds

Here are some great fall fashion finds:

I'm loving this sweater. It's unexpectedly fashion-forward and elegant for a Victoria's Secret product, and it comes in lots of great colors. I love this red:

($39, Victoria's Secret)

But it also comes in a wonderful purple, which is very stylish this fall.

As for a skirt, I found this teal "watercolor" bubble skirt on sale at Banana Republic:

($40, Banana Republic)

I think that it would be lovely with brown accessories, as they suggested.

I'm sure that by now you're itching to get to the shoes. I can oblige. Since I've already covered booties quite a bit, I'm going to focus on 2 great pumps that were on sale at Nine West.

($60, Nine West)

I love these "Rebecca" pumps because a. they're mary janes, and b. the amazing blue shade. It might not be terribly practical, but with that gold button, it looks stunning.

($60, Nine West)

I also totally fell for these "Sarno" pumps. The dark pink satin is gorgeous and unexpected, plus I actually like the ribbon detail. I usually like my pumps ribbon-free, unless they're purposely cutesy, but this ribbon is sophisticated and fits perfectly.

So now I've shared my stylish semi-splurges for this fall. What do you think?

Back-to-school outfit

Last week my daughter started school. She has absolutely no interest in fashion, unlike her poor mother, but she wanted to look nice for the first day. Hey, don't we all? So I tracked down a bunch of great items your teen or tween can wear and be comfortable and trendy at the same time.

I'm loving this top because the daisy pattern is sweet, but the neckline is fresh and the color is bright and interesting.

($33, modcloth.com)

As for jeans, you can go with this semi-affordable, straight-leg jean:

($50, American Eagle Outfitters)

Or spoil her with these hip (dare I say sexy?) slim boot-cut jeans for a heftier price:

($89, guess.com)

As for shoes, she'll probably be wearing sneakers. When she gets the chance, though, try some cute ballet flats. The ones at Target are so cheap, you can get several designs. These were my favorites:

($13)

($13)

($19)

And these last ones, also for Target, combine all of fall's hottest trends- purple, patent, flats, and mary-janes! In fact, I recommend keeping them for yourself:

New line

Oh my god!

Steve Madden makes dresses now too. Which means that you can compose the perfect outfit- all in one (not cheap) place!!!

What I love:

These two dresses are perfect for this season. The slim, belted pencil silhouette is perfection. The second dress is a little plainer, but also probably more flattering.

($150)

($150)

You could totally wear those dresses with these patent oxford booties. I'm loving them in bone:

($90)

Or you could go with this non-patent version in gray, with a higher heel:

($110)

What do you think about the Madden dresses and booties?

More vintage dreams

I am in love with Modcloth's one-of-a-kind vintage department:

($50, modcloth.com)

It's so...gorgeous, as they aptly notice. And...40's era Mata Hari sexy spy-ish. And elegant.

And perfect for these:

($50, modcloth.com)

They call them pin-up peeptoes. I call them perfection.

It's a total shame that together, they cost $100. Too much for a coat and shoes I have nowhere to wear.

But...I'll keep dreaming.

Sexy dreams

Would this not be an awesome sexy outfit, all bought at Victoria's Secret:

in either black or silver? Totally sexy.
